Coming Event

Coming this October: The Feminist Conversations and Mirror Mountain Film Festival are co-presenting a special conversation exploring the challenges women face in independent media creation in Ottawa and beyond. Featuring experienced local filmmaker Pixie Cram and experimental audiovisual artist Annie Socoria, the discussion will offer practical insights and strategies for navigating barriers in the arts. Moderated by TFC’s Amira Nasser, the event welcomes artists at all stages of their careers, emerging filmmakers, and anyone interested in exploring their creativity and discovering the artist within.Registration is free, with an optional suggested donation of $10. Reserve your spot and make a donation through the Mirror Mountain Film Festival’s Tixtree page.

We acknowledge that The Feminist Conversations is located on the unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation, who have been the traditional caretakers of this land since time immemorial. We recognize and respect the enduring relationship between the Algonquin people and this territory. We honour their continued presence and contributions, and we commit to learning from their knowledge, laws, and perspectives. As we gather, we reflect on our shared responsibilities to truth, reconciliation, and decolonization. We understand that land acknowledgments are only one step in this journey. We are dedicated to pairing our words with actions by building relationships, uplifting Indigenous voices, and supporting community-led change.
